This episode features the owner and operator of Books with Pictures Comic Book Shop based in Portland, OR. Shes a queer single mom rocking an MA in Science and Technology from Cornell, and shes also had a colorful career of different jobs. We will be diving into what Books with Pictures is as comic show and community space... Katie Proctor.

My first time in the shop was for the one year anniversary. Then I followed that up with an event and eventually asking you to carry my comic in your indie creator section. These trips we becoming a regular thing to the comic shop for meet ups and for the environment. I've been lucky enough to meet new friends and collaborators from the meet ups and events at Books With Pictures . So I want to personally thank Katie and say how grateful I am to have been apart of the community that her store attracts and I'm so happy I got to experience that with my time in Portland.

  • The idea of Baby Driver came about in 1994 when Wright was editing his 1995 debut movie A Fistful of Fingers, which was also his first solo script. At the time, he was obsessed with Spencer Blue Explosion’s “Bellbottoms” (the song that is playing during the first heist in Baby Driver) then began to imagine a car chase and bank robbery set to that song.

  • Some of the movies Wright took inspiration from for Baby Driver included HeatPoint BreakThe DriverBlues BrothersStraight TimeBullittThe Warriors and even the Mad Max franchise. Wright adored how George Miller did Fury Road and credited it to his detailed planning.
